19/06/2009: Philippine Embassy Launches Website’s Cultural Subsection

19 JUNE 2009 WASHINGTON DC – The Embassy of the Philippines announced today the launching of the cultural subsection at the Philippine Embassy website which will provide useful information on historic events in the Philippines as well as a calendar on socio-cultural events of the Embassy, the Philippine-American community and mainstream American society.  The cultural subsection called Kalinangan will likewise feature notable Filipino and Filipino-American achievers in the United States.  Shown in the photos are actual shots of Kalinangan (http://philippineembassy-usa.org/Cultural.html). In a statement, Ambassador Willy C. Gaa said that Kalinangan is “an important step by the Philippine Embassy in harnessing technology to further raise the level of awareness about Filipino culture and heritage and to foster the spirit of bayanihan in the Filipino-American and Filipino communities in the United States.  The launch coincided with the month-long commemoration of the 111th anniversary of Philippine Independence in the Greater Metro DC area.
