07/08/2009: Philippine Embassy Joins Filipino Nation and International Community in Mourning the Death of Former President Corazon C. Aquino

07 AUGUST 2009 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Philippine Embassy joined the Filipino nation and international community in mourning the death of H.E. Corazon C. Aquino, President of the Philippines from 1986 to 1992, by conducting a condolence book signing at the Embassy and a memorial mass on 07 August 2009 at the Cathedral of Saint Matthew the Apostle. The mass was celebrated by Msgr. W. Ronald Jameson and concelebrated by Fr. Jose D. Opalda, Jr.

A reception followed at the Philippine Embassy where Charge d'Affaires, a.i. Carlos Sorreta thanked over 150 guests for using the occasion as an opportunity to once again exemplify the Filipino people's sense of camaraderie and spirit of reconciliation in such trying time for the nation. END.
