07/12/2009: Philippine – Made Nativity Scenes Featured in DC Festival of Lights Celebration

07 DECEMBER 2009 WASHINGTON DC – Philippine-made nativity scenes showcasing the creativity and imagination of Filipino craftsmen are among those featured in the on-going Festival of Lights at the Washington DC Temple Visitors Center of the Church of Latter Day Saints.  Now on its 32nd year, the Festival of Lights features 500,000 lights which are turned on every evening until January 1st 2010, also features more than 100 nativity scenes, including 10 from the Philippines.  Ambassador to the United States Willy C. Gaa who delivered the keynote address, welcomed guests at the Hall exhibiting the nativity scenes.  Nativity scenes from the Philippines as those in the photos are made from indigenous materials such as capiz shells as well as recycled wood.
