19/09/2012: Photo Release - Visit of Albay Governor

19 September 2012

VISIT OF ALBAY GOVERNOR. Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. receives Albay Governor Jose S. Salceda during a courtesy call at the Philippine Embassy on 19 September 2012. Governor Salceda was in Washington D.C. for the three-day meeting of the Green Climate Fund where he sits as Board Member. The Green Climate Fund was created in the Copenhagen Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in December 2011 at Durban, South Africa with an allocation of $20 billion per year in the first three years and $100 billion thereafter or within the next five years. The fund is directed toward low-emission and climate-resilient development to limit or reduce greenhouse gas emissions.  President Aquino named Governor Salceda to the Green Climate Fund Board for being a pioneer in Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction in the Philippines. Governor Salceda is also global champion and spokesman of the UN, which cited Albay as global model for such initiatives as the Green Christmas it launched in 2010 to "celebrate Christmas through tree planting, beach or river clean-up, resettlement socials, disaster risk reduction, and games and magic shows in children’s homes or among children of informal settlers.
