16 AUGUST 2012, WASHINGTON, DC. Filipino-American Aurora Abella Austriaco called on Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose L. Cuisia, Jr.  yesterday to introduce herself as the newly elected president of the Chicago Bar Association (CBA).

“Aurora’s association in various legal organizations and community involvement is indeed impressive and a testament to the Filipino’s potential.  I am proud of her and I believe that she could contribute much as the CBA’s next President,” Ambassador Cuisia said.

During the meeting, Abella Austriaco conveyed that members of CBA intend to visit the Philippines in 2013.  Preparations relating to their meetings with counterparts in the legal profession, tourism activities, and economic briefings are currently underway.  The participants from Chicago hope to forge partnerships and learn more about the Philippines.

Atty. Austriaco specializes in “real estate litigation, construction litigation, business and commercial litigation, mechanic's liens, defense of mortgage foreclosure, mortgage fraud, title insurance claims, and other special chancery remedy cases.”  In 2009, she established the Austriaco and Associates, Ltd., a law-firm based in Chicago, Illinois.  She is a recipient of the “Ten Most Outstanding Filipino American Businessmen” from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce in 2009 and sits as one of the founding members of the Filipino-American Bar Association in Illinois.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance in 1987 and finished her law degree in 1990, both from DePaul University.
