26/05/2011: Ambassador Cuisia Meets with Co-Chairs of PH-US Congressional Caucus

26 May 2011, Washington DC. Ambassador Jose L. Cuisia, Jr. is warmly welcomed by Congressman Bob Filner (D-CA) and Congressman Brian Bilbray (R-CA) at separate meetings on the Hill. Congressmen Filner and Bilbray are Co-Chairs of the Philippines-United States Congressional Friendship Caucus. Representatives Filner and Bilbray assured Ambassador Cuisia of their continuing support for the Friendship Caucus and the further strengthening of the alliance between the Philippines and the United States. They also reiterated their support for the SAVE Our Industries Act, a bill that is expected to be re-introduced soon. Congressman Filner also extended his help in addressing the issues surrounding the pending claims of Filipino veterans under the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation Act. With current membership of 57, the Caucus aims to invigorate the bilateral relations between the Philippines and the United States and to forge a robust partnership and cooperation between U.S. legislators and their growing Filipino-American constituents.
