06 May 2011, Washington DC. Philippine Congresswoman Fatima Aliah Q. Dimaporo of the 2nd district of Lanao del Norte and former governor and congressman of Lanao del Norte Abdulah Dimaporo, accompanied by Philippine Embassy Agriculture Attaché Dr. Josyline Javelosa, called on the United States Department of Agricuture’s General Sales Manager and Foreign Agricultural Service Associate Administrator Suzanne Heinan last May 4. The Dimaporos related how livelihood projects, such as those assisted by Land O' Lakes Incorporated with the support of USDA's Food for Progress Program, have helped in improving the quality of lives of the people and in maintaining peace in this province of Mindanao.

Land O’ Lakes International Development, a division of Land O’ Lakes Inc. involved in its corporate social responsibility endeavors, has projects located in Lanao Del Norte that include a dairy farm, milking parlors and  processing plant supported by the USDA-funded Philippines Food for Progress dairy development project. A liquid nitrogen plant will also be installed as part of the project. Primary schools in the area benefit from a joint milk feeding program of the project and the Lanao Del Norte provincial government, with both partners contributing equally to the cost of milk and distribution.  END
